Interview with a Roman Senator

Interviewer: What is the most important role of being a senator?

Senator: Voting, making decisions, and looking rich. Duh!

Interviewer: Is being a senator all you do? Do you have another job?

Senator: Well, yes I do. I own a crapton of land in Rome and operate my own shipping company. That is why I’m so rich.

Interviewer: Has there ever been other senators in your family? Were they your role model(s)?

Senator: Yes, I come from a long line of senators, and we are very well known. As a child, yes, I would look up to my father and my grandfather as role models.

Interviewer:What your life like growing up?

Senator: I grew up in a very wealthy family in a very big house. We had many slaves that cooked and cleaned for us. My father was a landowner with lots of land and money, and always did things by slave.
